Round up of the 5th August

The sailors are now beginning to ramp up towards the main event as too are the organisers. We now have drinks and toilet paper onsite (lucky Rob).
It is simply amazing how many sailors can drop centerboards and chip rudders! We have also had several bow and gunwhale repairs and the racing hasn’t even started yet! It is a good job that we have the services of Mr G (aka Marco in China) as we would be struggling with some of the more technical repairs.
All sailors have now collected their boats and are in the process of going through measurement. John Luc is doing a great job and the sailors appear to be very happy with the quality of the hulls.
The weather today was very sunny, blue sky with 10 knots. This is perfect conditions for melting whilst doing repairs. Tomorrow we will be highlighting the following:
• Some of the helpers we see (Zoe and Mr G)
• Sailor fridges
• Container of the day

Email Just in from BBC!

It would appear that I have made it as a video editor? See the text from an email sent today to the youtube video. Not sure if it is spam or not, so am going to work on the theory it is!
Hello there,

I came across your videos while looking on Youtube for examples of people who were out there and taking footage.

Will you be there for the duration of the Olympics? We're looking for people who might be able to send us their footage that we can show on our website and on air as part of our Olympics coverage on the BBC.

Would this be something you might be interested in doing? If possible, it would be great to have a contact number for you too.

You can reply to his message here or via email at my details below.

Many thanks!
Name and email with held for security reasons.

2nd August August

Today was all about repairs! We have now got all the correct tools and have been spending most of the time fixing sailors errors. The USA team appear to be very good at damaging foils and we have now got our first hull repair! David from Neil Pryde has had to hand stitch a sail.

What will be on the blog tomorrow?

We had another mega busy day today and I have just got back to the Hotel and lost all will to update this blog. I think I have looked at more Laser Battens and centerboards than one should in a day. The team have however got some very exciting updates from today. Highlights include:
• Picture of a legend
• Uniform of the Day
• Insider view of the container of the day
And much, much more.

Man Down - Green Tongue Rob!

I think today Rob decided to enter and win the biggest loser competition in only one day! He is not a well boy! The picture was taken at roughly 7pm tonight and he had the morning off due to movements down stairs. We are hoping he will make a full recovery by tomorrow. He has however managed to charm the NZ coaching team into providing him with a chair and rehydratation drinks!
