What no sailing....

Olympic Report 14th August

The postponement flags have been flying all day and the racing was officially abandoned at the Beijing Olympic sailing venue in Qingdao this afternoon. There was early morning light rain and a mist which reduced visibility to just a few hundred metres. Until 12 noon there was not even enough wind to ruffle the flags along the Harbour sea-wall. Yesterday, Wednesday, the wind was light and only one race was held. The full rig winner was Andrew Campbell (USA) and the Radial race was won by Penny Clark (GBR)
Penny sailed the race with windward heal, kicker applied upwind with light sheeting. This caused much talk in the dinghy park as it has been used for several years. The team today had a relatively easy day with the usual complaints about bailers fitting, chip centerboard etc. The lack of racing did provide a good chance to network with ISAF and other groups. We are trying to arrange for a Laser to be rigged up by the medal stadium, but suspect BOGOC will not allow this.
The forecast for tomorrow is for wind so we will be having an early start!
