A day in the rain in China

Everyone misses Dobby, aka Rob, but I am sure he would not have missed today on the water, it was very very wet!

sitting here watching Tom getting undressed to get into the shower is a beautiful end to a very wet day.

One thing we have realised is the cultural differences between the west and the east in boat repairs-in the western world we tend to look for a quick and easy fix to do it once and get it done in time; but Mr G. seems adament not to use any electricity (can you blame him, there were lakes of rain water around the power supply-health and safety ton of bricks!)and has only one tool that he uses for every repair-the famous scraper. Trying to encourage Mr G. to use electric tools was too hard especially when others were not keen on going out to buy the tools!

The Laser course was wet and windy, but not as wet and windy as other courses but it did bring a tear to everyones eye when the girls and Ben brought home two medals; and the 49ers had can what only be described as a 'crazy talk' medal race in conditions that they would not normally go out sailing in.

Tom has found a way to hide the fact that he has added a few pounds to his body (10kg since before he came back to the UK)- wearing lose fitting pink shirts!

look out for photos tomorrow to see if a. the weather is still bloody horrbible, b. to see if Tom is sporting a dress shirt on the water.

Tomorrows aim: to fix the boat that Brett Beyer holed by boucing the bow of his rib against the stern of his sailor's laser; and to try and get Tom's expensive phone that he has no clue how to use working again-evedently Musto coastal jackets are not too waterproof and Nokia's answer to a blackberry doesnt react well to water!
