The games officially open today and most of the sailors have headed off to Beijing for the opening ceremony. There are a few teams that are still around the dinghy park, such as the UK and Dutch teams, but activities around the base are minimal.
Rob and I have finally managed to fix all the sailors little requests such as sanding scratches out etc and are preparing for the start of the racing in a few days.
The Ding-er-lings (Ynglings) and Finns start racing tomorrow and the best quote I have heard so far comes from Sarah Ayton. I was asking her how much stuff she is doing with the BBC. “Tom - I am not here to become famous, I am here to win!”
The weather predictions for the first race for the ding- er- lings and Finns is max 11knots, hot and sunny. Let’s hope it arrives.
